It takes no effort to live the mundane ordinary life, but the moment you are determined to have nothing but God’s destiny for you and to live your life by eternal design, that’s when the real work starts.
The manifestation of destiny is not just for talkers, but doers.
Nothing stays the same, it might look like you are stagnated, but in reality, you are either moving closer towards God’s purpose for your life or moving further away from it. I am writing to you specially so that your feet can remain on track in the hot pursuit of destiny.
In John Bunyan’s the Pilgrim Progress, a Christian allegory written in 1678, he depicts the adventurous every man’s journey of a notable Character called Christian who left his wife and children in his hometown, “The city of destruction” because he could not convince them to come with him as he sets out to find the “Celestial City” It was indeed the journey of a lifetime filled with many twists and turns, ups and downs. Right after he left the city of destruction, his old friends Obstinate and Pliable at first tried to convince him to return, to avail. He pressed forward and soon reached the slough of despond where he fell into the miry pit of fear and doubt but helped by God, he was cleansed and soon got back on his journey.
Not too long from there, he got to the village of morality. Here, Mr. Worldly Wiseman tried to derail his journey and yet by God’s grace, he found his way back to the straight road that led to the Celestial City, Onward proceeded the Christian through the Wicket Gate, The Interpreter’s House, The Cross, Difficulty Hill, Palace Beautiful, The Valley of Humiliation, The Valley of the Shadow of Death, Vanity Fair, The Doubting Castle and the Giant Despair, Delectable Mountains, Country of Beulah, The Dark River until he finally arrived in the Celestial City. Every stage of the journey was laced with great obstacles and difficulties, but through the help of God, the Christian overcame every single one of them and arrived safely to his destination.
The most important key to the Christian’s ultimate victory was to stay on the straight path. It did not matter how many oppositions the enemy hurled at him, as long as he maintained his course on the straight path, he would safely arrive at his expected end. Just like the Christian in Old John Buya’s amazing allegory, you also have been called by God to embark on an adventure of faith. A journey that leads from sin and darkness till you arrive in His heavenly Kingdom. It’s a journey of purpose and destiny; a journey towards the manifestation of long awaited prophecies and promises.
The Lord did not call you to roam aimlessly on earth like those who have no particular destination, you are on a mission. You are His anointed child, going somewhere. He has called you to change this world; to break long generational negative patterns of poverty, divorce and disease. There is an anointing on your life to be the exception to the stereotype of limitation and the gravitational pull of redundancy and mediocrity. You cannot disappoint your calling and the One Who has called you into His marvelous light. Keep your head high by God’s grace and press forward towards the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
“Better is the end of a thing than its beginning, and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit”
Ecclesiastes 7:8 ESV
You have to maintain a straight course. It’s not just moving that matters, you have to move in the right direction. Many are moving for sure but it is towards the wrong direction and whenever you are not moving forward, you are moving farther away from your destination. This is the trick of the enemy and his aim is to derail you from the right path completely. All those moments of despondency and overwhelming feeling of despair are all part of the enemy’s tactics to make you abandon your quest or take you off course. The enemy is a liar, do not swerve.
Pilots use sophisticated navigation technology to keep the plane from wandering off the right coordinates. The sky might look like one plain sheet, but the pilot understands well that it does have specific mapping and it would be catastrophic if the plane were to wander off. Everyone that sees you may not understand your navigation, to them it might look like you are just meandering, but you must know exactly what your coordinates are and keep running that race until you get there.
And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,
Hebrews 12:1
You cannot measure success by how something starts but if it has the capacity to endure the pressure of time and maintain its course under pressure and during adverse moments. Most people are excited to start something new and they usually have what I call the beginner’s syndrome. Their Adrenalin gets all pumped up and they feel like they can conquer the world. But that’s not where victory is. It’s when the storm blows and all hell let loose that counts. Would you abandon your assignment because it appears difficult or would you keep pressing forward until you get there? Now that’s where real giants are made.
IT’S A LONG WALK TO FREEDOM
I often tell God’s people that the race of your life is not a 100 meter race but a long marathon. It’s a long stretch with many twists and turns. The path are sometimes decorated with thorns and thistles to keep you fit for the laurel. Every aspect of your life is a part of the journey. Nothing is left behind. Your Faith, family, finances, future are all interwoven in this amazing adventure of life. You might get hit hard sometimes, just keep your eyes on Jesus Christ and do not swerve. God will ultimately bring you to your safe haven.
YOU ARE CALLED TO WALK ALONE WITH GOD
The place where God is taking you, the crowd can not go with you This is why some people cannot even understand your journey or go far with you. You are called to walk alone with God. Many are stuck and not able to move forward with God because they are entangled by the opinion of others and the need to be constantly affirmed. You cannot look up and down at the same time. Shake off the crowd mentality and move I to your supernatural destiny by miracle wisdom. Eagles do not soar in large numbers.
MOVE CLOSER EVERYDAY
When people tell me ‘Rome was not built in a day’ I will jokingly respond, “But it was built everyday” Be intentional to do things on a daily basis that add tremendous value to your destiny. The 24 hour cycle cannot elude you. Invest into your assignment. It is more productive to do little things consistently than to do big things randomly. Put your life on schedule, stay committed to it and be accountable. This will help you to develop power habits and the consistency needed to form a lifestyle that will build your capacity and build your dream.
WHEN YOU FALL, GET UP AND KEEP GOING
There will be those moments when you will slip and topple over. It happened to Christian in the Pilgrim Progress and it sure does happen on our journey today. When you slip, get back up, dust yourself and get back in the race. At these crossroads certain mistakes, the enemy would position condemnation and guilt. Cast them out and move on in God’s grace. You will win.
For a righteous man falls seven times, and rises again, But the wicked stumble in time of disaster and collapse.
Proverbs 24:16 AMP
ALWAYS PUT THE END IN FOCUS
The picture of your destination ought to be your greatest motivation. It’s the reason why God chose you and it is also the reason why the enemy has bombarded you with so much opposition. When you feel overwhelmed by life and hit those crossroads it feels like you should just throw in the towel and give up, then remember why God chose you and keep your head in the game. Can you remember why you were called in the first place; is it to take the Gospel across the Nations, or to build a multi-million dollar business that will provide jobs for thousands of people and finance the Gospel? Are You called to pray for the salvation of your family or feed thousands of orphans. Whatever it is, let it be your compass and glimmer of hope during moments of uncertainty.
We are all called to make it to that Celestial City. It is our ultimate destination. Don’t get so carried away with the world that you lose focus of God’s heavenly kingdom. We will get there.
